1744 takes the first train of the day away from Keighley - the 09:00 to
Oxenhope. Two carriages only. The sound echoes from nearby houses and factories.

Next up was 2-8-0 WD 90733 , taking the
first goods service of the day from Platform 3. The boiler safety relief lifts
as the loco passes. 2:42, 3.1MB
1744's second run was in charge of the
6 car buffet set making up the 10:30 from Keighley. This recording was made
further out of the station, towards the end of the long siding. As you will hear,
my microphone rig piqued the interest of a local householder.

Ivatt Class 2MT 2-6-2T 41241 leaves
Keighley with the 11:15 to Oxenhope. This cut was recorded from the west side
of the line, in the industrial estate. 1:49, 2.1MB
Behind LMS class 3F 'Jinty' 0-6-0T 47279
with the 12:35 shuttle to Ingrow West. 1704 'Nunlow' at the rear.
The loco blows off as the whistle sounds, and a brisk start is made with the
2 coach set. Speed picks up as the gradient eases and the loco becomes less
vocal. 5:25, 6.2MB
Two services were recorded whilst at Ingrow.
The first was the 13:25 goods ex Keighley to Damems, in charge of
Lancashire & Yorkshire Barton Wright
Class 25 0-6-0 957. 1:05, 1.3MB
The second recording was of 90733
with the 13:55 express, which ran through Ingrow West
without stopping. 0:59, 1.1MB.
Back down to Keighley again, recording from the steep 'ginnel' overlooking the
exit from the station. L&Y 957 and
Standard 4 tank 80002 take the 14:50 from Platform 4. 'Nunlow' then runs out
of the station siding by the signalbox. Emergency vehicles with
'blues and twos' run through the town. 2:51, 3.3MB
Along to the end of the long siding to record
1744's 15:45 run with the Buffet
set. The mic picks up the noise of the River Worth at the other side of the line.
The exhaust beats are very steady up to the recording position, after which the
train accelerates away. 3:58, 4.6MB.
Just outside Keighley station, 80002 stands in front of the recording position.
47279 and 957 take the 16:30 service away
from Platform 4. 2:21, 2.7MB
Standard Class 4MT 2-6-4T 80002 departs
from Platform 4 with the late-runing 17:25 express to Oxenhope, with 8 on
(the 6 coach buffet set, plus the 2 suburban carriages) 3:06, 3.6MB
