Severn Valley Railway - Recordings from 2008

Re-opening day, Friday 21st March 2008.
The first train was cheered away from Kidderminster
by those on board. Everyone was happy to see the SVR back in business over
the whole line. But it was a bitterly cold day with very high winds and
occasional icy showers. Not the best day for sound recording, so only a few
tracks are posted here.
GWR 2-6-2T 4500 Class No 4566, climbing away from Northwood Halt with the 10:25am
from Kidderminster. Recorded from the road running along the line, where major
earthworks have been done to repair the embankment. 1:05, 1.2MB.
S&DJR Fowler 2-8-0 88 approaching
Trimpley Reservoir with the 11:15am from Kidderminster. 1;02, 1.2MB.
GWR Manor Class 4-6-0 7812 Erlestoke Manor,
climbing from Victoria Bridge and passing Trimpley Reservoir. The safety valve
lifts as the loco passes, near the footpath crossing into Eymore Wood.
1:11, 1.4MB
LMS Black 5 4-6-0 45110 rolls steadily over
Victoria Bridge and then accelerates away towards Northwood Halt with the
11:05am from Bridgnorth.
45110 was last heard 2 weeks earlier at the
West Somerset Railway Spring Gala.
0:50. 1.0MB
Black 5 45110 departs from Arley for
Bridgnorth with the 1:30 pm service from Kidderminster. The sounds echoes
from the station buildings to the left, and is blown back towards the recording
position by the strong wind.
2:23, 2.7MB.
